QUESTIONS? YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

Come curious.

You don't need to know the terminology, have experience or understand exactly which class is right for you. Here are some of the questions we hear most often.

START HERE

What is Jungle Red?

Jungle Red is a movement studio built around awareness, curiosity and connection. We bring together pole, aerial, barre, somatic movement and The Mojo Technique™ in an environment where progress isn't measured by perfection.

I've never done anything like this. Can I come?

Absolutely. Many Jungle Red experiences are designed specifically for beginners. You don't need to be flexible, strong or coordinated before you arrive. That's what learning is for.

How do I know where to begin?

Start with one of our beginner or introductory experiences, or visit Choose Your Path. You don't have to know exactly what you want before you begin.

POLE

What is Pole Foundations?

Pole Foundations is our beginner introduction to pole. We teach the foundations first—how to walk, hold, transfer weight, create shapes, build grip and understand how your body works with the pole.

Do I need upper-body strength?

No. You come to develop strength, not prove that you already have it.

Will I have to climb or invert?

No. We build the pathway first. Nothing should be rushed simply because it looks impressive.

Is pole at Jungle Red sexual?

Pole can be athletic, artistic, expressive, sensual, technical or simply fun. At Jungle Red, you decide what expression feels authentic to you. Pole Foundations focuses primarily on movement, technique, awareness and confidence.

What should I wear for pole?

Comfortable fitted movement clothing works well. Skin contact can become useful for grip as you progress, so shorts may eventually be helpful. Avoid body lotions or oils before class because they can affect grip.

AERIAL

What is aerial movement?

Aerial movement uses suspended fabric to support, challenge and sometimes completely hold the body. At Jungle Red, aerial doesn't automatically mean climbing high or performing tricks.

Do I have to go high?

No. Many of our experiences use fabric low to the floor. The fabric can become support rather than something you have to conquer.

What is Aerial Sanctuary / Restore?

A restorative experience using low aerial fabric, gentle movement, breath and body awareness. Rather than focusing on tricks, we use the fabric to support release, exploration and restoration.

Do I need aerial experience?

No. Beginner experiences are taught progressively and options are offered throughout.

What should I wear for aerial?

Wear comfortable fitted clothing that covers areas where fabric may contact the skin. Leggings are ideal.

Can I wear jewelry or a watch?

No. Watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces and other jewelry must be removed before using our aerial fabrics.

What about fingernails and toenails?

Our aerial fabrics are delicate. Fingernails and toenails must be smooth with no sharp or broken edges that could snag or puncture the fabric. Tape may be provided when appropriate.

Less force. Less struggle. More awareness. More grace.

SOMATIC AWARENESS

Traditional class: ‘Copy me.’ Jungle Red: ‘Notice you.’
What does “somatic” mean?

Somatic simply refers to experiencing the body from within rather than only thinking about what movement looks like from the outside.

What is somatic awareness?

It's learning to notice what's happening while you move—your breath, tension, posture, effort, habits and sensations—before automatically trying to correct them.

Is it exercise?

It can involve movement and physical effort, but the goal isn't simply to burn calories or complete repetitions. Sometimes the movement is strong. Sometimes it is incredibly small. The important part is what you notice.

What is The Mojo Technique™?

The Mojo Technique™ is Rodney's approach to movement and body awareness built around three steps: Awareness — Acknowledge — Act. First notice what is happening. Then acknowledge what you find without immediately judging it. Then decide what action your body needs.

How is this different from a traditional fitness class?

Rather than beginning with “copy me,” we often begin with “notice you.” Technique matters, but so does understanding the person doing the movement.
